There are many different options when it comes to the style of your food menu. You could have a plated meal, a buffet, a potluck, or just snacks and drinks. The first step in deciding the wedding menu will be analyzing which style will best fit your needs.

I have listed four menu styles below.

1. The Plated Meal

The plated meal is the most common and the most formal of all of the options. This option will give your wedding an elegant and expensive feel. There are usually one or two options for the guests to choose from - which can be chosen either before the wedding or during the reception. This option is great if you want to have control over the cost and look of your reception; however, the staff that is required can become expensive.

2. The Buffet

Wedding guests love a good buffet. Individuals can not only choose what they want, but also how much they want. On the other hand, the buffet style is the most expensive. The couple must keep in mind that some guests may take more than others, so it is best to order more than enough. The buffet style can be very visually interesting when done correctly.

3. The Potluck

This menu style is a little unconventional, but it is definitely the most cost effective. The bride and groom can ask family members or guests to bring certain dishes. This will save the couple a lot of money in the long run. The potluck style will allow the food to have a lot of variation because the guests bringing the food have the choice. If you want a little more control than that, you could tell your guests what dishes to bring.

4. Snacks and Drinks

Just providing snacks and drinks is a good option if your wedding is between meal times. This is another cost effective option. The bride and groom will only have to worry about cheaper food items, and they will not need to purchase as much.

Most vendors offer multiple different styles, so it is wise to ask. I have researched some local wedding vendors and listed them below.

1. Western Sizzlin Steak House

Western Sizzlin Steak House. is located in Harrison, Arkansas. They specialize in BBQ stye dishes and offer over a dozen entrées. Western Sizzlin Steak House offers buffet style and plated meals. This steak house has 4.3/5 stars on Google. Here is a link to their catering menu.

3. Lavish Grazing

Lavish Grazing is located in Springfield, Missouri. This company specializes in aesthetically pleasing charcuterie boards. This would be more of a snack style reception because of the nature of charcuterie boards. Lavish Grazing has 5/5 stars on Google. Here is a link to their wedding options.

4. Golden Caterings

Golden Caterings is based in Branson, Missouri. They offer Italian dishes, Chinese dishes, American dishes, and many others. There is a lot of variety with this company. As you can see, there are many options when it comes to the wedding menu. Be sure to choose the style and type of food according to the vision and vibe of your wedding.

Tip: Do some research on your favorite restaurants and see if they will cater an event. This can potentially save you money because individual businesses charge less than wedding caterers.
